Shoden training will teach you all you need to begin practicing Reiki on yourself and anyone else to help ease stress, pain and anxiety, calm the system as a whole and to help the body as it heals injuries or recovers from illness.

Okuden training is the next step where you learn seiheki chiryo which is used to help yourself and others with unhealthy habits and to move through issues you/they are finding difficult or restrictive. You also learn enkaku chiryo which is how to give Reiki at a distance.

Both trainings are two day courses and you must attend both days. Everyone who attends the training will receive a traditional Japanese certificate from the Institute in Kyoto, Japan and an English certificate.

Ongoing support

Once you have completed the training, you will be able to practice what you have learned on yourself and others with Amanda available for support if you need it. There are ongoing practice days every couple of months where you can ask Amanda questions in person, go over anything you need to and practice Reiki together and receive group treatments from other Jikiden Reiki practitioners.

There is also an option to join the Jikiden Reiki UK Association for community, support, meetings and webinars.

Amanda Jayne

Amanda Jayne studied Jikiden Reiki in Kyoto, Japan from 2002-2006 with Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son, Tadao Yamaguchi. Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki in 1938 when she was just 17 years old and she learned from one of the original teachers in Japan, a doctor called Chujiro Hayashi.

Amanda had been looking for a Reiki teacher for a long time, but it wasn’t until she met Chiyoko Yamaguchi that she knew she had found the right person to learn with. Chiyoko Yamaguchi was simply a sweet older lady, grounded, ordinary, yet full of life. Warmth and love emanated from her and her 65 years of Reiki experience meant she had a lifetime of experience using Reiki everyday for family and giving treatments to others that she could pass on.

Reiki, as it originally was, is simple, powerful and very easy to use, yet there is great depth and much to learn from the experience you gain as you use it.

Amanda spent nearly 4 years learning Jikiden Reiki in Japan and became a Shihan (teacher) there. She set off in 2006 and began travelling around the world teaching what she had learned from the Yamaguchis. In 2009 she graduated from the University of Santa Monica, Los Angeles with a Masters in Spiritual Psychology and in 2016 she became a Daishihan (which means senior teacher) at the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan.

Women in Reiki – Lifetimes dedicated to healing in 1930s Japan and today is the book Amanda Jayne co-wrote with fellow Daishihan Silke Kleemann. She edited the book Reiki and Japan for Masaki Nishina and contributed to Tadao Yamaguchi’s book Light on the Origins of Reiki.

Currently, Amanda is based in Cornwall and regularly teaches Jikiden Reiki at Marlborough House Therapy Centre in Taunton.
